Scout Adventure RPG — Game Mechanics
A beginner-friendly d10 RPG system designed specifically for Cub Scouts and young children. Simple mechanics that focus on fun and imagination.
A first tabletop RPG for young scouts
The Scout Adventure RPG is a d10 system built from the ground up for kids. The rules are intentionally light so the focus stays on storytelling, teamwork, and imagination — not bookkeeping.
Core mechanics
- One die to rule them all. Players roll a single ten-sided die (d10) for actions.
- Three simple stats. Each scout has a small set of traits that add to their roll.
- Tell, then roll. Kids describe what they want to try; the die decides how it goes.
- No failure, only twists. Low rolls don’t end the story — they make it more interesting.
Why it works for kids
The system rewards creativity and cooperation over rules-lawyering, making it easy for a parent, teacher, or den leader to run with zero prep. It’s a gentle on-ramp to problem-solving, math (adding modifiers), and collaborative narrative.
Ready-to-play adventures
Pair these mechanics with the Adventure Collection — three self-contained stories you can run in a single session.
